Unlike some of the busier beaches on the Vendée coast, Plage de La Belle Henriette retains its wild, natural feel. There are no seaside buildings or concrete boardwalks here, as the beach is part of the Réserve Naturelle Nationale de la Belle Henriette, a site protected by the Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux in partnership with the Parc Naturel Marin de l’estuaire de la Gironde et de la mer des Pertuis, and the Fédération Départementale des Chasseurs de la Vendée. Located between La Tranche-sur-Mer and L’Aiguillon-la-Presqu’île, which includes L’Aiguillon-sur-Mer and La Faute-sur-Mer, this unique site in France is a veritable sanctuary. Numerous species of animals, including migratory birds, find refuge here throughout the year. For birdwatchers, the reserve is an open-air paradise. In fact, there are several signposted footpaths to help you discover the reserve.
